On April 3, the United Front Work Department of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee announced plans to begin restoring the historic residence of Liu Guojun, an esteemed cultural figure in Changzhou, marking a significant step in preserving his legacy. The transfer of usage rights for the project was finalized, with dignitaries such as Yang Fen, a standing committee member of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and director of the United Front Work Department, and Deputy Mayor Jiang Pengju, attending the handover ceremony.

Liu Guojun, a distinguished patriot and pioneer in China's modern textile industry, once resided in this historic home located at No. 82 Qingguo Lane in Changzhou’s Tianning district. Spanning an impressive area of 2,297.8 square meters, this property holds special significance as a municipal-level cultural preservation unit. Notably, it encompasses the nationally significant Tianxiang Tower, former residence of Qu Qiubai, an early CPC leader and revolutionary hero, as well as the provincial heritage property Bagui Hall, former residence of military strategist Tang Jingchuan.

The restoration project, guided by principles of minimal intervention and reversibility, aims to rejuvenate the architectural structures and courtyard environment of the estate. Additionally, an exhibition will shed light on the life stories of both Liu Guojun and Qu Qiubai, with the goal of bolstering cultural preservation efforts in Changzhou.

The event also saw the unveiling of Liu Guojun's Diary, a captivating publication meticulously curated by a project team led by Dr. Ge Jixia from Changzhou University and published by Jiangsu People's Publishing House. Covering the period from February 1945 to July 1972, this compilation provides a unique insight into Liu's world through his diary entries, calligraphic works, and insightful reading notes from newspapers.
