IV. Fixed Asset Investment

The investment structure continued to improve. In 2015, fixed asset investments in Changzhou grew by 6.7% to 339.9 billion RMB, among which investments on the heavy and light industry grew by 6.5% to 175.61 billion RMB and investments on the tertiary industry grew by 7.1% to 163.67 billion RMB. Furthermore, the city’s investment structure was optimized. Investments on hi-tech enterprises increased by 13.9% to 79.46 billion RMB, 7.2% higher than the general fixed-asset-investment growth rate. Of all investments on the heavy and light industry, those on technical innovation and upgrading grew by 6.2% to 116.02 billion RMB, accounting for 66.1% of the total industrial investments. In contrast, real estate investments continued to decline. In 2015, 50.8 billion RMB was invested in the property market, down by 25.5% in comparison to 2014. 39.482 million m2 of residential floor space was developed and 6.378 million m2 of residential floor space was newly started, down by 11.5% and 30.4% respectively.
